Residents invited to see Stillwater Police officer promotions

ou’re invited to witness a ceremony for officer promotions and pinning within the Stillwater Police Department (SPD).

Sergeant Kyle Bruce and Officer James Hansen will be promoted to lieutenant and sergeant positions during a ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 6. The ceremony will start at 2 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723. S. Lewis St.

Bruce is currently a sergeant in SPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. He has been a member of the SPD since 1995, serving as a dispatcher, patrol officer, special projects detective and detective sergeant. Bruce is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Hansen is currently a patrol officer, and has been a member of SPD since 2012. Hansen is a motor officer, drug recognition expert and member of the department’s Honor Guard Unit. Hansen leads the department’s involvement in the Special Olympics, held in Stillwater annually. Hansen will be promoted to sergeant within the patrol division at Thursday’s ceremony.

RSVPs are not required to attend the event.

The ceremony will also broadcast live on Suddenlink channel 14 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 for those who cannot attend in person.
