Summer Courses at Meridian Technology Delayed Until June 1; Some Training Programs Will Transition to Virtual Platforms

Meridian Technology Center has delayed on-campus short-course offerings until June 1 due to COVID-19 concerns.

“It is still too soon for Meridian to have guests on campus. Balancing safety and the delivery of services is our priority,” said Dr. Douglas Major, Superintendent/CEO of Meridian Technology Center.

Major indicated that Meridian would continue to assess the situation and decide about on-campus courses after June 1 in a format that will conform with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We want to do what’s best for our students and clients,” he said. “Staff are leveraging technology to provide education and training throughout the district during this time. Our campus may be closed to the public, but we are still here to support students and businesses within the Meridian district.”

Meridian will be offering a free online COVID-19 workplace safety training program for employees. The program is self-paced and can be completed on a mobile device or a computer. Companies can get more information or register by contacting Kurt Mendel at [email protected] or 405.377.3333.

Leadercast, as well as Technovation4Education, a summer camp for educators, will take place, but both events will transition from an on-campus experience to a virtual event. Organizers are still finalizing details but information about both events can be found at

Meridian will also continue to offer online training using ed2Go, an online platform that offers online personal and professional development classes, career training programs and certification prep courses. The ed2go courses are led by a qualified instructor and typically take six weeks to complete. The next series of online classes will begin on May 12. New sessions start each month.
