Classic Cinema at the Center to present “Mrs. Minever” Friday, Nov. 12

1942 Romantic War Drama — A truly classic motion picture.

Story provided by Friends of the Stillwater Community Center

In this moving drama, a middle-class, English family must learn to cope with WWII in their own backyard and village.  The family, headed by the lovely and gracious matriarch, endures the entry of one son into the Royal Air Force, the departure of the father for the beaches at Dunkirk, the discovery of a wounded Nazi pilot, and bombings directed toward their youngest children at home.

Inspired by the novel from Jan Struther, Mrs. Miniver delivers a significant propaganda message for the U.S. to join the Allies in World War II.  Directed by William Wyler, the film stars Greer Garson, Walter Pidgeon, Teresa Wright, Dame May Whitty, Reginald Owen, Henry Wilcoxon, and Henry Travers.

The movie will be presented in the Winfrey Houston Auditorium in the Stillwater Community Center at 9th and Duck.  Friday, November 12 at 7:00 pm.  As always, admission and refreshments (popcorn, chocolate and water) are free.  Join us for this significant cinema experience.
